Jim’s Journal: Why Wait Until the End?!

June 30, 2014 in Jim's Journal

Have you ever watched a game (football, basketball, baseball, soccer, etc.) where the team that was getting beat throughout the game, attempts to make a miraculous comeback at the end?  Or a relationship where one person takes the other for granted for so long, then attempts to save the relationship once the other person says, “I’m done?”  These two examples remind me of what happens in the workplace.  Some people don’t make the most of their situations until it appears as though the curtain is about to close on their employment.  Excuse after excuse, poor choice after poor choice pave the way to the ending, then the heroics begin in an attempt to change the inevitable.  Even, “I’m sorry,” begins to fall on deaf ears.  Please don’t fall into this hole!  Take advantage of your opportunity.  Appreciate the people and savor every second.  Once you start going through, and not growing through, your job your situation is going to become more and more dire.  Get out of your own way!
