Jim’s Journal: Extra, Extra Read All About It! They Smell You Loud and Clear!

June 23, 2014 in Jim's Journal

Do you know someone who wears too much cologne?  It’s as if they marinated in it overnight.  Their perfume typically lingers for hours after they’ve left the room.  And if you hug or embrace them you smell like them all month (OK, I’m exaggerating, but I think you get the point).  The ironic part is that they don’t smell their aroma as strongly as you do.  This is comparable to someone who always brings the “extra” to what’s happening.  They’re overly dramatic in every situation.  They always have too much to say.  It’s almost as if they don’t have a, “I’m being annoying filter.”  You cringe when they come around, anticipating that they’re going to do something or say something that’s way over the top.  And you’ve read enough of my journals to know that I believe that everyone should live their lives out loud and perform in a fashion that separates them from the pack.  However, “extra” feels different.  In most cases it’s unwelcomed, uncalled for and uncomfortable.  Check in with your colleagues, family and friends to see if they can “smell you” coming.  If found guilty consider going on a “21-Day Extra Diet!”  Remember, “extra” can create more distance, than closeness, when building and sustaining relationships.  Besides, in many cases, less is more.

We provide the most transformational and empowering tools and experiences that challenge people to live and perform OUT LOUD!
