Jim’s Journal: Happy Thanksgiving!

November 27, 2013 in Jim's Journal

Whenever I reach my destination and someone asks, “How was your flight?” I always offer the same response: “Awesome!”  I figure that any time my plane lands in one piece and I’m able to WALK off, it was an awesome flight.  I’m truly thankful that I made it there safely.  I’ll take a bumpy landing over “no landing” any time.  Whenever someone asks me, “How are you doing?” again, I always offer the same response: “Phenomenal! Hey, I’m breathing.”  I’d rather not consider the opposite.  You see, I do my best not to take things for granted — nothing!  I’m thankful for so much and I strive to live my life that way.  And I’d like for you to continue to do the same.  We have SO MUCH to be thankful for!  As we observe Thanksgiving 2013, I encourage you to take a moment and marinate on what you’re thankful for.  Why don’t you make a list? No, make two.  One list is for what you’re thankful for.  The other list is for what causes you stress.  If your “stress list” exceeds your “thankful list,” you’re probably not truly appreciating your blessings.  Hey, enjoy your day and enjoy your blessings!  At least for today, keep your focus on what you DO have.  The JSJI team and I sincerely wish you and yours a happy and memorable Thanksgiving!
