Jim’s Journal: Enjoy Your Humble Pie

August 13, 2013 in Jim's Journal

It was bound to happen sooner or later. I had one of those “character-building” sessions recently.  The smorgasbord of challenging behaviors included the following:  extroverts on steroids; experienced facilitators who sought to train from their seats; participants who made CONSTANT references to their faith; and a hotel event staff event that couldn’t spell customer service, let alone provide it.  Don’t get me wrong, we had a pretty moving and emotional experience.  Everyone was JIMPACTed and they walked away anxious to put their new skills to work.  I, on the other hand, needed a timeout.  Yes, Mr. Energy was tired.  I used every facilitator technique, tool and trick that I’ve learned in the past 30 years to use.  Would I do some things differently?  Absolutely!  Did I learn from this experience?  YES!  Am I grateful that it happened?  Oh yeah!  Every now and then, in life, we begin to smell ourselves.  We begin to think that we created air.  For some of us, when we travel, we need another room just for our egos.  Just a reminder: when life serves you some humble pie, enjoy every slice.

We provide the most transformational and empowering tools and experiences that challenge people to live and perform OUT LOUD!
