Jim’s Journal: I Don’t Want to Be Like Most People

July 4, 2013 in Jim's Journal

When someone is encouraging me to do something and their argument begins with, “Most people do it,” my mind immediately moves to, “I don’t care what most people do because I don’t want to be like most people.” I want to be a trailblazer and a pioneer, not a follower. I want to determine if I should do it’ based on my own research. Have we ever considered the reasons why most people do “it”? Could it be the easy way out? Could it require less thinking or creativity? Could it be that they perceive it to be the safest way to go? Listen, my goal is to be productive, healthy, resourceful, joyful and successful. I’m just not going to do something a certain way JUST because “most people do it” that way. I want my difference to make a difference. How about you?
