Jim’s Journal: Has Your Coach Stopped Yelling?

July 9, 2013 in Jim's Journal

My brother, Rodney – who loves sports as much as I love them – shared this following thought with me last week. He said, “Jim, when the coach stops yelling at you it means that he (or she) doesn’t care anymore or has given up.” I gave his words a lot of thought and smiled because I’ve had coaches yelling at me my entire life. But I got his point. Now, every leader doesn’t yell when coaching or developing someone but he or she uses a variety of methods to fire one up. Think about the mentors, coaches and bosses in your life. Have they been quiet lately? You might want to check in.
