Jim’s Journal: T.A.N.

May 14, 2013 in Jim's Journal

I started using the “Jr.” in my name after my Dad’s passing in May of 1999.  Prior to then, I went by Jim Smith.  My using “Jr.,” I thought, would be a nice way to honor his memory.  This way, I reasoned, I would be taking him with me every day, since he was essentially out of my life for 14 years (ages 11 – 25) after the divorce.  I can count on one hand the number of times we saw each other over the 13 years after that.  I wished I would have used “Jr.” sooner.  That way he could see that, in spite of his numerous ups and downs, I was still proud to be his son.  How about you?  Why don’t you celebrate their life now?  I’m sure they’d like to go into the building, or walk down the street, you name after them.  Make them feel loved now! It’s ok to Take Action NOW!!!
