CONGRATULATIONS TO AUTHOR, JIM SMITH, JR:
THE NO EXCUSE GUIDE TO SUCCESS NOMINATED IN THE 44TH ANNUAL NAACP IMAGE AWARDS

We are thrilled to announce that Philadelphia’s own Mr. Energy, author Jim Smith, Jr. was nominated for his latest book, “The No Excuse Guide To Success: No Matter What Your Boss — Or Life — Throws At You,” in the Literature – Instructional category. Announced December 12, 2012, Jim joined such luminaries as Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Tyler Perry and Morgan Freeman in being honored with a nomination.

The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors. Winners were announced during the two-hour star-studded event, which aired live on Friday, February 1 on NBC.

Of his nomination, a glowing Jim Smith, Jr. said, “I feel blessed to be so honored, and it is wonderful to know that THE NO EXCUSE GUIDE TO SUCCESS is truly making an impact — JIMPACTing people to change their lives for the better. If this incredible recognition will help bring the message of the No Excuse Revolution to an even wider audience, encouraging them to take personal responsibility for the future of their own success, I couldn’t possibly ask for more.”

Founded in 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. The organization’s half-million adult and youth members throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities and monitor equal opportunity in the public and private sectors.

“We are proud to celebrate the artists and activists who use their craft to share positive images of our culture,” stated NAACP Chairman Roslyn M. Brock. “The artistic community is an important ally for social justice, and the NAACP Image Awards provides an excellent venue to recognize those who make a difference through art and activism.” — From the Press Release
